Viking Sun was built in 2005, and along with her sister ship, the 2006-built Viking Helvetia, she sails some of the most spectacular waterways in Europe. Sporting high ceilings and plenty of windows, these two vessels are capable of carrying 198 passengers in an environment that is as inviting as it is comfortable. In fact, there’s almost no area of this ship that doesn’t feature panoramic windows, allowing the passing European countryside to be seen no matter where you are.

VIKING SUN Staterooms

There are five stateroom categories aboard Viking Sun:

• Category E staterooms measure 120 square feet and are located on Middle and Main decks. These staterooms feature one sofa bed and one Pullman bed, as well as a half-height picture window that cannot be opened. It also has full air conditioning, a bathroom with shower, a small desk area, a TV with English-language programming, and a wardrobe.
• Category B, C and D staterooms are larger at 155 square feet, and are located on Middle and Main decks. These staterooms all feature hotel-style beds that can be separated if needed, a sitting area, wardrobe, bathroom with shower, full air conditioning, a desk and TV featuring English-language programming, and a wardrobe. Space is available under the beds for storing luggage. Category B and C staterooms feature a full-size window that can be opened, while Category D staterooms have a half-height window that cannot be opened.
• Category A staterooms boast all the amenities of Category B, C and D staterooms, but with the added benefit of a French-style balcony. They are located on Upper Deck, and are also 155 square feet.

VIKING SUN Public Areas

As guests enter on Middle Deck, they are greeted by the sweeping two-story Atrium Lobby. The main reception area is located here, along with comfortable seating. Additional seating is also featured one deck up, along with a 24-hour Coffee and Tea station and a fruit basket – the perfect combination for sitting back and watching the world go by. A small onboard boutique is located here as well.

All the way aft on Upper Deck is the ship’s Library, which features approximately 100 books in English and some in other languages as well. An assortment of puzzles and card games area also available here.

All the way forward on Upper Deck is the beautiful forward-facing Observation Lounge. Featuring windows on all three sides, this room makes the perfect place to sit down with a good book or a drink from the accompanying bar and watch the beautiful landscapes of Europe float by.

One deck down on Middle Deck is the ship’s Restaurant. Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual yet elegant open-seating environment, the Restaurant is the perfect place to meet and enjoy a meal with newfound friends. In addition to a set menu, a comprehensive breakfast buffet is also on offer here.
