California-based AmaWaterways has teamed up with Lynda McHenry, a veteran travel agent and founder of Gluten Free Cruises to offer a Gluten Free river cruise along the Danube from Budapest, Hungary to Vilshofen, Germany.
Departing May 22, 2013, this Romantic Danube – Gluten Free voyage will take place aboard the new AmaPrima, and came about as a result of McHenry’s personal experiences as a parent of a daughter who is gluten-intolerant. Years later, it turned out that McHenry and her husband also suffered from gluten intolerance, an ailment that places heavy dietary restrictions on those afflicted with it.
“This Gluten Free River Cruise is the natural evolution of the lifestyle we have embraced since our daughter’s difficultly with her Gluten intolerance. Since then we have opened both a dedicated Gluten Free grain company and dedicated Gluten Free restaurant, Eats & Treats Café, in our hometown of Corvallis, Oregon.
