While river cruising throughout continental Europe continues to grow, so does the Asian segment of the river cruise market. Last week, Century Cruises took delivery of the brand-new, 398-guest Century Legend.
Launched just two months after the line’s Century Paragon, Century Legend was designed from the ground up to appeal to Western travellers and fans of deep-ocean cruising. The line even recruited the venerable interior design firm of Yran & Storbraaten to put its unique touch on both vessels. The Oslo-based firm was responsible for the design of popular ships like Seabourn Odyssey and Disney Dream.
A total of 196 staterooms are featured aboard Century Legend, including two Presidential Suites; 34 Executive Suites; four Junior Suites and 156 Riverview Staterooms.
“We are proud of this beautiful ship, Century Legend. Together with Century Paragon, which we launched just seven weeks ago, and all of our other beautiful ships, we continue our commitment to the market and all of our selling partners around the world,” says Peng Jianhu, president of Century Cruises. “We continue to strive to provide the very finest Yangtze River cruise experience available.”
Century Legend has also been outfitted with some uncommon features, including a Grand Atrium that spans seven decks and a 2,000 square-foot indoor swimming pool.
Currently, both Avalon Waterways and Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection have agreements to use these new vessels on itineraries that explore China’s famous Yangtze River.
Century Legend will offer four-day, downstream itineraries between Chongqing and Yichang, as well as five-day, upstream cruises on the same route. The ship will call at Shibao Pagoda, the Three Gorges of Daning River, the Three Gorges Dam and include a transit of the dam’s locks system.
