Tauck Cuts Solo Cruisers A Deal – Again

River cruising is well suited to all kinds of travelers. It’s also advantageous for those who like to travel solo. The intimate and convivial atmosphere onboard encourages socialization, and the convenience of being able to unpack once yet visit any number of destinations makes it more convenient than a typical overland journey.

Once again, Tauck is rolling out the red carpet for solo river cruisers in 2014 by eliminating the onerous single supplement on its Category 1 European riverboat staterooms, and reducing the supplement for other categories by up to $600 on 158 of the line’s departures across 64 separate itineraries on five continents.

“By their very nature, our guided tours and cruises provide a wonderful camaraderie and sense of assurance that’s typically absent when one travels alone,” says Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. “What’s more, we handle all of the advance planning and details for our guests, so there’s no anxiety or worry. By eliminating or reducing the single supplement on so many of our trips, we’re really making great journeys for solo travelers even better.”

Tauck’s journeys are some of the most comprehensive river cruise tours out there, with numerous exclusive experiences ashore and onboard, all under the direction of their skilled (and highly personable) Tauck Directors. More than just experienced guides, these individuals make you feel like a long-lost family member, and not just another number or soul to be herded around.

In waving the single supplement — which can make the cost of river cruising prohibitive for the solo traveler — Tauck is also reducing the price of its Category 4 and 5 staterooms by $1,000 on 28 different departures spanning 13 itineraries.

But efforts go further than just the financial aspect; Tauck is also creating special staterooms designed for solo travelers aboard two new river cruise ships, ms Savor and ms Inspire, both of which are set to take to the waterways of Europe next year. The line also features a dedicated Solo Travel forum and Solo Travel section on its website in order to better serve those who may be traveling alone.
