If you’ve casually thought about booking one of Viking Cruises’ river cruises in the past few months, chances are you’ve come up against a common issue: full sailings – even well into 2014. Due to the unprecedented demand, Viking has made a selection of 2015 European river cruise itineraries available for booking – at 2014 prices.

This, of course, comes as the line celebrates its most ground-breaking year yet, with the simultaneous christening of 10 Viking Longships this past March in Amsterdam, an event that garnered the line a Guinness World Record for the most ships christened by a single line in a single day. This year, Viking also changed its name to Viking Cruises in anticipation of the launch of its first-ever oceangoing cruises aboard Viking Star, currently under construction and set to launch in 2015.
“We are delighted that so many experienced travelers are discovering how relaxing and enriching Viking’s river cruises are, and our distinct way of exploring destinations,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking Cruises. “As our fleet of revolutionary Viking Longships continues to grow, we are proud to be able to offer both our new and return guests the best value possible, including the most diverse range of itinerary and stateroom choices of any river cruise line.”

By the end of 2014, Viking’s fleet will encompass 48 vessels, 30 of which will be Viking Longships launched in the past three years alone.
Until December 18, 2013, Viking is offering special pricing on its most popular European river cruises aboard the new Viking Longships for departures in 2015. Itineraries on offer include:
- Grand European Tour (15 days; Amsterdam – Budapest) – Spend 15 magical days on a cruise along the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers, seeing the best of Holland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Prices for 2015 start at $3,562 per person.
- Danube Waltz (8 days; Passau – Budapest) – Explore Europe’s most enchanting countries along the Danube, visiting Budapest, Vienna, the Wachau Valley, Passau, Melk and Salzburg. Prices for 2015 start at $1,756 per person.

- Rhine Getaway (8 days; Amsterdam – Basel) – See Holland’s famous windmills, Germany’s romantic castles, multicultural Strasbourg and the Black Forest. Prices for 2015 start at $1,256 per person.
As with any river cruise, it’s always a smart idea to book well in advance – and Viking’s offering some great incentives to plan your 2015 river cruise earlier rather than later.
