Picturesque Strasbourg: Your Guide To AmaWaterways Excursions

Sitting down to write these excursion overviews for our Dream Cruise is getting me so excited to river cruise again. I’m seeing pictures of old cruise managers, guides, crew members, and new friends made along the way. I can’t wait for us to create these memories together.

Today we are revisiting another favorite city on this itinerary. But aren’t they all, really? The Rhine & Moselle are beautiful rivers and AmaWaterways does a great job selecting ports of call with enriching excursions.

Toward the end of our journey, we will cruise through the heart of Alsace, where Strasbourg awaits. The city is beautiful and historic with its blend of French and German culture, but also has great shopping and food. It’s a win-win.

AmaWaterways offers two excursions to help you explore the city.

Start your adventure with a panoramic tour that takes you past the beautiful Parc de l’Orangerie, the impressive European Parliament, and the historic Place de la République. Stroll through the fairytale-like La Petite France district, with its cobblestone streets and charming half-timbered houses. And don’t miss the iconic Cathédrale de Nôtre Dame, famous for its astronomical clock.

For those who prefer a more active exploration, a guided bike ride through Strasbourg and the scenic Parc de l’Orangerie offers a fun way to see the city’s sights and immerse yourself in its vibrant atmosphere.

Last time I was in Strasbourg, a man came riding down the street on horseback while my friends and I ate some tarte flambée (a pizza-like tart). I mean, where else does that happen?

AmaWaterways’ excursions allow you to explore Strasbourg’s unique charm at your own pace. I can’t wait for us to explore the magic of Strasbourg together.
