I fly Business Class, by the way, for a few reasons: 1) I am 56 and 6’5″. I don’t fit in economy class anymore; 2) Business Class can be a better value than economy class; and 3) many people have learned to fly upfront by using a variety of strategies – see thepointsguy.com for a few ideas.
Without funding, there would be no site. Unfortunately no one is willing to pay for subscriptions, even if we were hypercritical in our reviews. We are fairly positive in our reviews primarily because river cruise vessels are highly evolved and nearly all that we encounter deliver positive experiences. We would have to look very hard to be critical as passenger surveys routinely indicate that most river cruise products exceed their expectations. However, there is a space for quibbles and that is in the comments section in every post, user-generated reviews if you will. We welcome those and wish more would participate.
When I studied journalism, they would call this business model “cash for comments”. Clearly a conflict of interest, and clearly why there is never a critical word in any of your reviews. No wonder you travel business class. Sad really that “journalism” has evolved to this low point.
The Elbe is dredged to 1.4 meters or something like that. River cruise vessels need 1.6. You’d run aground – a lot.
Ralph, We enjoyed Viking’s Elegant Elbe cruise, but I am wondering why they don’t have an Elbe cruise that starts in Hamburg or even closer to the north sea. Elegant Elbe goes between Magdeburg and Melnik. I receive your newsletter and enjoy it.
