Dear Readers,
This introduction is long overdue. My name is Britton, I am the daughter of Ralph Grizzle, and I am 23 years old. Having grown up with a dad with whom I have traveled so often, I have developed the same passion as my father has for cruising.
I started writing articles for his sites in 2011, and have written an array of articles covering topics such as healthy eating but also providing recaps of trips that I have taken. Having just finished a degree in communication studies at The University of North Carolina – Greensboro, I have decided that I would like to play a larger role on the site. Some of you may know my name already, as I have been posting news from the cruise lines for more than a year. But for those of you who haven’t seen my name, you can expect to from now on, because I will be more active than ever on the site.
Currently, I am focused on making sure that all of our ship reviews are updated as well as posting news directly from cruise lines. This way, I can make sure that all of our readers stay informed and current. In addition to these roles, I will also be writing pieces about my favorite itineraries, cruise lines, port cities and more.
Although I am young, I have been told that I am an old soul. This is helpful in my writing because it allows me not only to connect to an audience my age, but also to an audience who is more mature. At 23 years old, I have been on about 20 cruises. That is including the four-year break that I was forced to take from traveling while I was in college. I am young but still an avid traveler. Having sailed on ships from Carnival to Silversea, and taken river cruises aboard AmaWaterways, my travel experience is vast for someone my age. Although I have mostly taken ocean cruises in the past, I love river cruising and look at this opportunity to spend more time on the rivers.
Some of the most magical moments of my life have been aboard ships. At five years old, I was gifted an award for Best Manners on a Princess’ ship. At nine, my grandmother had an American Girl Doll sent aboard a Carnival ship for my birthday. At 14, I had the incredible opportunity to cruise the Mekong with AmaWaterways. And at 17, my dad and I cruised the Göta Canal, where we traveled from Stockholm to Gothenburg aboard the world’s oldest registered cruise ship. These are solely the highlights of a few trips that I have had the privilege of taking, but they are still engrained in my memory and will be for a very long time.
Cruising as a child, I was allowed to miss school under the condition that I kept a travel journal. I would come back to school and give presentations to the class about the trips that I took, the cultures that I experienced, and the knowledge that I acquired. I will continue that tradition on this site, and I hope that you all enjoy sharing my travels with me as much as I will enjoy sharing them with you. – Britton
