This week, the Globus family of brands – consisting of Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways and Monograms – announced important updates to its pre-trip Health & Safety Protocols including proof of COVID-19 vaccines, a negative test result or virus immunity in order join its tours, river cruises and independent vacation packages in North America and abroad.

“The health and safety of our travelers is our number one priority,” said Scott Nisbet, CEO of the Globus family of brands. “We have continued to enhance on-trip safety standards throughout the pandemic to ensure we’re ready to welcome guests back to travel when the world is ready. Today, we’re unveiling new pre-trip requirements.”
Travelers are now required to offer Globus family of brands’ personnel one of the following printed and/or digital verifications upon arrival:
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to travel
- Proof of a negative COVID-19 test (NAAT/PCR or antigen) result within 72-hours of travel
- Proof of recovery from a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis within three (3) months of travel
Without one of these verifications, travelers will not be able to join a planned vacation with Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways or Monograms.
In addition to unveiling new COVID-19 parameters required at the start of each vacation departure, the Globus family of brands announced that they will facilitate – and cover – additional COVID-19 testing, if required, for guests to return to their home country, as well as tests on trip if guests show symptoms.
These new protocols will take effect in April.

Hello
My wife and I are thinking about booking a cruise for late summer/ early fall 2021. Do you think that will be safe? Will are looking at multiple cruises between Bucarest and Budapest.
I read today the World Health Organization and vaccine companies have conceded “that the vaccines do not prevent people from being infected with COVID or from transmitting it, but are only effective at reducing symptoms” and now they are now thinking a 3rd vaccine may be necessary to address the new strain from Europe. If this is true, it seems a therapeutic (much like Tamaflu is used against the flu) would be just as effective without singling out and turning the cruise industry upside down with mandatory vaccines.
P.S. I loved Croatia on our Bucharest to Amsterdam Viking cruise in 2019! I hate to even contemplate never cruising again as my husband developed Guillian Barre (flu vaccine side effect) — thus vaccines are not an option for him.
Thank you for sharing this. The Lower Danube is region every river cruiser should experience.
We are welcoming all safety protocols to resume cruising. In Croatia we are developing project “Safe stay in Croatia” under the Ministry of tourism and sport. Within this project, safety protocols for river passenger terminals were prepared under Association of river tourism. Hope this will encourage river cruising travelers to choose river cruising programs on lower Danube with embarking in Croatia.
