AmaWaterways Unveils Three Theme River Cruises for 2015

One of the first proponents of themed river cruises, California-based AmaWaterways recently announced three brand-new theme voyages scheduled for 2015, revolving around the subjects of beer, art and jazz.

Beer aficionados can participate in AmaWaterways’ special Beer Cruise, which sails on March 31, 2015 aboard AmaLyra and again on December 14, 2015 aboard AmaPrima. Guests will be able to take part in shore excursions to historic breweries, beer tastings, and onboard lectures revolving around the rich history of beer in Europe.

One unique feature of these two departures is the inclusion of a special beer pairing dinner on each voyage, presented by beer expert and writer Don Russell, who goes by the pseudonym “Joe Sixpack” and has authored three books on the subject in addition to writing for magazines and newspapers in the search of great beer.

“At AmaWaterways, we are committed to consistently refreshing our offerings, finding ways to provide the most unforgettable river cruise experiences imaginable to the world’s most discerning travelers,” said Kristin Karst, executive vice president and co-owner of AmaWaterways. “These new themed itineraries are in response to demand from our guests, many of whom have enjoyed similar experiences in the past and are seeking new ways to engage with each other while exploring the world.”

Art lovers aren’t left in the cold either. On August 13, 2015, AmaWaterways’ AmaLegro will offer a weeklong journey through France’s legendary Normandy region in search of Claude Monet. Guests can enjoy visits to Rouen’s Gothic cathedral, Monet’s house and garden in Giverny, the picturesque seaside village of Honfleur and Van Gogh’s former home in Auvers-sur-Oise. After admiring the real-life backdrops of the world’s most celebrated works of art, guests may participate in complimentary painting classes led by expert instructors. The journey concludes with a 2-night stay in the magical City of Light – Paris – with a sightseeing tour and visit to the Musee d’Orsay.

Finally, on September 22, 2015, the beautiful AmaLyra will set sail on the line’s highly anticipated Jazz Cruise, conducted in participation with Jazzdagen Tours. Spanning seven days, this voyage along the Danube features exclusive jazz performances by a diverse selection of artists from around the world. To top it off, guests will experience some of the Danube’s most highly rated ports of call, like the classical Austrian city of Vienna and the romantic little town of Durnstein, nestled deep within Austria’s Wachau Valley.
