Every time a river cruise comes to an end, I find myself wishing I had a few more days with my new friends – and just a little more time in whatever city we started or ended in.

AmaWaterways is currently offering complimentary pre- or post-cruise land packages on select 2026 and 2027 sailings in Europe and Colombia, which essentially gives you that extra time without having to plan it yourself.
On eligible departures, you can add two to four extra nights in places like Prague, Paris, Lake Como and Budapest, with hotels, transfers and guided touring included.
Some of those same sailings also qualify for Ama’s $599 AirPlus offer, which lets you bundle in roundtrip economy airfare.
What You’re Getting
The land packages include:
- four- or five-star hotel stays
- daily breakfast
- guided tours and excursions
- transfers between your hotel and the ship
- luggage handling
- and support from an AmaWaterways cruise manager
The Options
Prague (3 nights)
Available on a wide range of Danube itineraries, including Romantic Danube and Magna on the Danube. Includes a guided city tour or castle hike for views over Prague, along with a Czech beer tasting experience.
Paris (2 nights)
Offered on Seine and combination itineraries. Includes a guided tour that focuses on lesser-known parts of Paris, an immersive art experience at Atelier des Lumières and time in Montmartre with a visit to Sacré-Cœur before embarkation.
Lake Como (3 nights)
Available on select Rhine itineraries. Includes a stop in Lake Lucerne en route, followed by a stay on Lake Como with a guided walking tour and a boat ride to Bellagio.
Lake Lucerne and Zurich (4 nights)
Offered on several Rhine itineraries. Includes a walking tour of Lake Lucerne, a lake cruise and cable car ride up Mount Rigi, followed by a city tour of Zurich.
A Note On Flights
The land packages are the headline, but the $599 AirPlus option is worth noting.
It’s not available on every sailing, but when it lines up, it covers two of the biggest trip costs – flights and hotels – in one booking.
Final Thoughts
Cities like Prague and Paris are rarely one-night destinations, and most travelers end up booking extra hotel nights anyway. This just removes the need to coordinate hotels, transfers and tours separately.
If you were planning to arrive the day of your cruise and leave immediately after, it’s less relevant. But if you’re the type of traveler who wants a little more time in each destination, this is an easy way to build it in.
