Australian-owned APT Travel Group is making its river cruises available to U.S. travelers for the first time as the nearly century-old company expands its presence in North America.

APT operates two river cruise brands. APT Luxury Travel offers a five-star, all-inclusive experience, while Travelmarvel occupies the premium segment of the market.
APT’s Newest European River Ships
Leading the U.S. launch are APT Solara and APT Ostara, two 154-guest sister ships sailing for APT Luxury Travel.
Designed with Melbourne-based architecture and interior design firm Hecker Guthrie, the ships emphasize contemporary design and a more relaxed approach to luxury. Each offers six dining venues, which APT says is more than any other river ship currently sailing in Europe.

One of the more unusual venues is Grüner Bar & Dining. The space can be raised hydraulically from Deck 3 to the Sun Deck, where it becomes an open-air restaurant and bar with 360-degree views.
“Bringing our river cruises to the United States marks an exciting new chapter for our family-owned business,” said Lou Tandy, family principal and director of APT Travel Group. “It’s less about formality and more about freedom, authenticity and experiencing a destination in a way that feels personal.”
Sailing Between Amsterdam And Budapest
APT Solara and APT Ostara sail the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, including the company’s seven- and 15-day Magnificent Europe itineraries between Amsterdam and Budapest.
The program includes several experiences available exclusively to APT guests. Among them are morning tea at Namedy Castle with Princess Heide von Hohenzollern and a private evening at Vienna’s Liechtenstein City Palace featuring cocktails, an orchestral performance and opera.
Travelers can also choose from included cultural, culinary and active excursions in several ports.
Travelmarvel Expands To Egypt
APT Travel Group is also bringing its Travelmarvel brand to the Nile. The new Treasures of Egypt and the Nile itinerary is scheduled to begin in September 2026 aboard Travelmarvel Sirius, the brand’s first dedicated river ship in Egypt.
The program combines a Cairo hotel stay with a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan. Qualified Egyptologists will accompany the included shore excursions, providing context at the temples, tombs and monuments visited along the way.
