NEW: American Cruise Lines National Parks & Puget Sound Combo For 2026

If you’ve ever struggled to choose between a National Parks road trip and a Pacific Northwest cruise, American Cruise Lines makes the decision a lot easier. Building on its growing portfolio of U.S. National Parks cruises, the line has announced a brand-new 15-day Northwest National Parks itinerary, sailing roundtrip from Tacoma, Washington in September 2026.

The first week of the journey is all about the parks: Mount Rainier, Olympic and North Cascades. Guests will travel with dedicated adventure guides through a highlight reel of the region’s most dramatic scenery, from the glacier-fed lakes of Mount Rainier to the mossy trails of Olympic’s Hoh Rainforest and the alpine peaks of the North Cascades (often nicknamed the “American Alps”). Expect plenty of waterfalls, wildlife and views so remarkable you might wonder if you’re dreaming. It’s what the Pacific Northwest does best.

Then comes part two: the cruise. Guests will board one of American’s small, modern ships, American Constitution or American Constellation, for eight days of exploring Puget Sound, Friday Harbor and the San Juan Islands. There’s time to watch for whales from your balcony, kayak along forested shores and explore small coastal towns like Port Townsend, Poulsbo, and Victoria, B.C., home to the iconic Butchart Gardens.

Fares are fully inclusive, covering everything from hotels and guided park excursions to onboard dining and cocktails, so guests can just focus on taking in the views (and maybe snapping a photo or two of that Diablo Lake turquoise).

Expanding the National Parks Collection

This new itinerary joins American Cruise Lines’ growing portfolio of U.S. National Parks cruises, which has quickly become one of the most interesting corners of their lineup. The company introduced its first National Parks itinerary in 2023 and has been adding new combinations ever since, pairing classic river routes with guided park adventures across the country.

Other itineraries include:

  • National Parks & Legendary Rivers (16 days): A Columbia and Snake Rivers sailing combined with guided exploration of Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks.
  • Great Smoky Mountains Cruise (11 days): A Tennessee River journey paired with Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
  • Alaska National Parks (16 or 19 days): Cruises through Glacier Bay and the Inside Passage, with guided experiences in Denali and Kenai Fjords National Parks.

It’s a smart move for American Cruise Lines: leaning into the domestic travel trend while offering something more immersive than a standard cruise or park tour alone. For travelers craving the best of both worlds, adventure and ease, these National Parks itineraries might just be the ultimate American vacation.
