AmaWaterways christened its newest river ship, AmaSofia, on March 14 during the ASTA River Cruise Expo in Amsterdam.

The ceremony took place along the Rhine and was attended by more than 1,200 travel advisors. Events were hosted across three AmaWaterways ships – AmaSofia, AmaPrima and AmaVenita – creating a shared setting for the christening.
Sarah Little, who served as the ship’s godmother, led the official ceremony. The evening concluded with a drone light show over the river.
AmaSofia accommodates up to 154 guests across 76 staterooms. Suites range up to 350 square feet, and the ship retains the line’s signature features, including twin balconies and The Chef’s Table.
The ship began sailing on the Rhine earlier this season, operating itineraries including Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps.
In June, AmaSofia will reposition to the Danube, with its first sailing scheduled for June 7. It will then operate a range of Danube itineraries, including Romantic Danube, Melodies of the Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube, primarily between Budapest and Vilshofen.
